The climate crisis won’t wait. Neither will we.
EU countries agreed on our new climate commitment under the Paris Agreement.
At 🇧🇷 COP30, Europe stands united, committed to cutting net greenhouse gas emissions by 66.25–72.5% by 2035, compared to 1990 levels.
Also, we agreed on a legally binding 2040 target of 90%, with a domestic reduction of 85% and up to 5% from international carbon credits.
Ten years after Paris, we’re showing Europe delivers its climate promises, at home and globally.

Als Antwort auf European Commission • • •how can a legally binding 2040 target of just 90%, be considered in alignment with the Paris Agreement?
The climate crisis won't wait - but we're still ignoring science and available data when it is politically inconvenient. A shame.

Als Antwort auf European Commission • • •The EU is on track. Emissions still rising globally. China drastically reducing. Germany still trying to continue classical combustion engines.
The image above doesn't seem to be in sync with reality. And maybe the whole agenda isn't. Please fact check yourself, please make sure intermediate goals are introduced and severly punished on a miss.
This feels like being compliant on paper only, but not effectively. Or the news about being on track are told too rarely. 😔

@EUCommission
Sorry, but the "66.25–72.5%" part is lame and frankly ridiculous:
If you can't agree to at least -70% in 2035 NOW, you will never meet your 2040 target.
Do you already plan to bump international credits up from 5% even further?

Also on track imposing mass surveillance on citizens?
It's a disgrace. Very worrisome.
